The 36th Ward Tax Advocacy Program provides free legal assistance to residents seeking to appeal their real estate taxes through the Board of Tax Review. Through this program, more than 10,000 Ward residents have received relief from excessive property tax assessments.

  • Free Legal Assistance
    Alderman Banks, his staff, and a team of volunteer attorneys provide free legal assistance to constituents seeking to file a protest with the Board of Tax Appeals.

  • 90% Success Rate
    More than 90% of appeals filed through the 36th Ward Tax Advocacy Program are successful.

  • Substantial Tax Relief
    Nearly all constituents served by the program receive substantial tax relief, and many petitioners learn that they are eligible to apply for homestead and senior tax exemptions.
