Alderman Banks is dedicated to providing 36th Ward youth with a wide range of educational and recreational resources to help them achieve their full potential.

Each year, he raises more than $50,000 in private contributions through his 36th Ward Youth Foundation which are used to sponsor a wide variety of youth programs in schools and parks throughout the Ward.

Since the organization's founding, Banks has received more than 600 awards recognizing his dedication to area youth, a powerful testament to the impact of the Foundation's work.

36th Ward Youth Foundation:

  • $1 Million Dollars Contributed to Youth Programs Over the last 20 years, the 36 th Ward Youth Foundation has contributed more than $1 million dollars to fund area youth programs.

  • Funding for Educational Initiatives The sponsors an annual essay contest in all Ward elementary schools with first, second, and third prizes for contest winners.

  • Funding for School Trips Funding from the 36 th Ward Youth Foundation has enabled students to travel to locales as near as downtown Chicago and as far away as the nation's capitol.

  • Funding for Community Youth Organizations The Foundation sponsors a variety of community youth organizations including the Boys and Girl Scouts of America.

  • Funding for Sports Activities In addition to providing every park in the Ward with an annual grant for programming, the Foundation sponsors youth sports teams throughout the 36 th Ward.

  • Supporting Youth Programs Throughout the City Although organizations in the 36 th Ward receive first priority, surplus funds are contributed to programs for youth throughout the City.
